Dominants are proud people. We are fiercely independent, controlling, proud of our resilience and our egos brim at the thought of our own self discipline. We want to be viewed as strong, capable and never off our game. But here’s the secret many Dominants won’t tell you; we’re actually human beings too. And as much as we hate it, that means we have to experience all the emotions and frustrations that comes with being a human being. When you think of it this way, it is not hard to imagine why Dom/me drop is so rarely spoken of or known about. Particularly amongst submissives. Believe me, we like it this way. Especially to our submissives, we want to appear flawless and in command. Especially of ourselves. So when we experience drop, those expectations are likely to make us feel a great deal worse.

We Doms can be quite sensitive: it’s what makes us what we are. Thank you for this well considered piece, Lady.

I agree, we can be quite sensitive, and extremely caring. It sometimes conflicts with who we are as Dom/mes . Still, this actually helps me understand exactly what has been going on with me recently.

Fantastic write and I could not agree more. We do feel we are “uber” human sometimes, at least I do. Thank you for sharing this insight as I have experienced this as well. Reaching out to other Dom/me’s for consult is a great practice. Wonderfully stated!

As a submissive we sometime forget that our Dom’s also care and understanding. I hope I am not out of line with this message. Thank You.
